I lead the specialist Colebrooke Centre for Evidence and Implementation. I carry out multi-method research in implementation and improvement, on services mainly for children and families. I provide consultancy in applied implementation science to policy makers, funders and practice organisations. I write and publish on implementation sciences and practice topics.
Main topics of interest:
Implementation-informed Service Design
Implementation Theory
Scaling Up
Sustainment
Co-Processes (Co-Design, Co-Creation etc.)
Systems Change/Systems Analysis
Competencies for Implementation Support
Theory of Change
Evaluation of Implementation
Other: Critical perspectives on evidence and implementation.
I have been studying implementation processes and providing consultancy and advice to policy and service organisations for over ten years. I set up and led significant organisations doing this work in Ireland and the UK. Formerly director of a research centre in child and family policy and practice, I now work mainly as a consultant using applied implementation sciences and practice (IS&P) to help services improve and develop. I write for the scholarly press on implementation topics, and teach, train and give lectures and workshops. Currently I’m especially interested in systems change, co-creation in IS&P, and critical thinking for IS&P.
