My PhD research project focuses on the clustering effect of multimorbidity and deprivation on disease and treatment burden and the utilisation of health and social care services in the North West of England. Socioeconomic deprivation and poorer health outcomes have excacerbated the North/South divide. Multimorbidity increases with age and social deprivation, is more prevalent in women, minoritised ethnic groups, people with mental illness and disability. I am utilising the St Helens Shared Care Record, an integrated health and social care dataset for the St Helens area, North West England which is held by the Combined Intelligence for Population Health Action platform to identify vulnerable and priority multimorbidity clusters and map their health and social care use. Implementation project outputs are a Graphnet Health Limited multimorbidity dashboard platform that will highlight priority multimorbidity cluster groups within the St Helens CCG footprint. The St Helens CCG and Primary Care Networks are keen on ways to tackle the health inequalities in the St Helens region and to improve access to health care through a population health approach.
Main topics of interest:
Implementation-informed Service Design
Scaling Up
Co-Processes (Co-Design, Co-Creation etc.)
Systems Change/Systems Analysis
Evaluation of Implementation
I am deeply passionate about health inequalities and social determinants of health and I enjoy working closely with patients and communities. With a background in Public Health, Health Policy and Development, I am motivated to find implementation solutions to service delivery and implementation-informed service design to improve care for individuals living with multiple chronic conditions, especially those from socioeconomically disadvantaged areas.
